'Abdullah Öcalan' stand set up in Liverpool

As part of the campaign "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a political solution to the Kurdish question", a stand was set up on busy streets, brochures were distributed and books by Abdullah Öcalan were promoted in Liverpool, England.

Within the scope of the international campaign 'Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a political solution to the Kurdish question' launched on 10 October 2023, Liverpool Kurdish People's Assembly set up a stand in the busy streets of Liverpool to draw attention to the absolute isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan

The stand was decorated with pennants with Abdullah Öcalan's image and promoted his books as well as brochures describing the isolation imposed on him by the Turkish state in the İmralı Island Prison for 25 years.

Hundreds of leaflets were distributed on the streets and avenues, and intense interest was shown to the stands, where activists made statements with megaphones and explained the paradigm of democratic confederalism and the importance of Abdullah Öcalan for a peaceful solution

A statement made on behalf of the Kurdish Community Centre said, "Leader Öcalan has been kept under severe isolation since the day he was delivered to Turkey by an international conspiracy. However, he has been put up great resistance with his ideas, thoughts and the Democratic Confederalism paradigm he has developed. This paradigm has become a guide and a road map for the peoples to reach freedom and radical democracy."

The statement continued: "On the other hand, Abdullah Öcalan, the most important actor for a peaceful solution, is kept under absolute isolation by the Turkish state, disregarding all international and even domestic laws. For a peaceful solution, the peoples should embrace the campaign for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, which was launched on 10 October last year, and put pressure on the Turkish state. Only by uniting around Abdullah Öcalan's ideas can we eliminate the Turkish state, which is drenching the Middle East in blood. In this sense, liberating Leader Öcalan means building peace."
