'Abdullah Öcalan' postcards left at houses and workplaces in England

On the occasion of Christmas and New Year, postcards were left in thousands of houses and workplaces in many cities of the UK to draw attention to the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and convey his wishes for peace and democracy.

Events in Britain continue as part of the global campaign launched on 10 October for freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question. Under the leadership of the Kurdish People's Assembly, Christmas and New Year postcards were left at thousands of homes and workplaces in many cities, especially in London, to draw attention to the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan.

In the postcards titled "Freedom for Öcalan" and featuring Abdullah Öcalan's photograph, Abdullah Öcalan's wishes for peace and democracy for Christmas and New Year are conveyed to the people.

20 thousand postcards

It is planned to deliver 20 thousand postcards to homes and workplaces across the UK.

Speaking to ANF, Seyit Suruç, Co-Chair of the Kurdish People's Assembly in Britain, said that while sending a message to celebrate Christmas and New Year, they also expressed the aggravated isolation of their leader.

Suruç said that the work continues in 20 cities, mainly in London, and added: "Postcards are being distributed in Exeter, Hull, Brighto, Liverpool and Manchester, as well as in Edinburgh, Scotland. The friends both convey Leader Öcalan’s greetings to the houses where they leave postcards and tell them about the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom."

'We will expand the campaign’

Celebrating the New Year of the people, Suruç stated that the Kurdish people and their friends should carry the campaign started on 10 October to a much higher level. “There has been no news from Leader Öcalan for almost 3 years. Anyone with a conscience who calls themselves a human being must not remain silent against this isolation. We will expand the campaign initiated for the freedom of the leader and a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question. The freedom of Leader Öcalan is the freedom of the Kurdish people and the freedom of the Kurdish people is the freedom and peace of the Middle East. We believe that 2024 will be the year of freedom for Leader Öcalan," he said.

Botan Amed, a member of the Revolutionary Youth Movement, who delivers postcards to homes and workplaces, said that the ongoing imprisonment of Öcalan is unacceptable and said, "We are conveying Leader Apo's greetings of freedom, equality and peace to thousands of people. Peoples know Leader Öcalan, as well as his role and importance for peace. We will not submit to Turkish state fascism and barbarism. We will raise the resistance and struggle in every field until Leader Öcalan is liberated."
