3 HDP MPs and 10 activists discharged from hospital

Three HDP MPs and ten activists who were taken under treatment in Amed after the end of their hunger strikes, have been discharged from hospital.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) deputies Dersim Dağ, Tayyip Temel and Murat Sarısaç joined the massive hunger strike campaign demanding the end of the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Like thousands of prisoners and dozens of activists in Turkey, Kurdistan and abroad, the three deputies ended their hunger strike, which they had carried out in HDP Amed (Diyarbakır) offices since March, following a call from Öcalan on May 26.

The deputies were hospitalized on the same day and they have been discharged from hospital today.

In the meantime, DTK Co-chair and HDP MP Leyla Güven, who also ended her hunger strike protest after Öcalan’s call, remains under treatment in a private hospital in Amed.

On the other hand, 10 of the 14 hunger strike activists who were taken under treatment in different hospitals in Amed and neighboring cities, have been discharged from hospital.

Treatment of Gurbet Ektiren, Mahsun Şen, Sedat Akın and Halef Yiğit, whose fast had continued for over 100 days, remain under treatment.
