YRK announces the names of two guerrillas martyred in Turkish attack

HPJ commander Aryen Arê and YRK fighter Êrîş Berxwedan were martyred in a Turkish airstrike in Pêncewîn in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq on 3 December.

The Eastern Kurdistan Defence Forces (YRK) announced the death of guerrillas Aryen Arê and Êrîş Berxwedan in a Turkish airstrike in Pêncewîn in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. According to the statement, Aryen Arê was a commander of the HPJ (Eastern Kurdistan Women's Defense Forces) and was on a revolutionary mission together with the fighter Êrîş Berxwedan when they were attacked.

The YRK expresses its condolences to the people of Kurdistan and the families of martyrs, stating: “At this stage of the attacks against our people, the duty of defence will never be postponed. The enemy, who has no humanity, is attacking dishonourably. This will not go unanswered. As their comrades in life and war, we will not forget them."

The statement said of guerrillas Aryen Arê and Êrîş Berxwedan, "They were freedom fighters, they were in effort and action against the reality of the enemy (...) From the truth of the martyrs, they saw that 'labour is great and sacred'. They were aware of a heavy war, and they lived in this spirit, always taking it as a basis.”

YRK emphasized that they will fight to fulfil the dreams of the martyrs protect the legacy of the martyrs until the end, adding: "We will walk in the footsteps of the martyrs and further expand our struggle."
