YPS Press Office announced that an agent has been punished in Şemdinli and a YPS member fell a martyr in a clash in Dersim.

Civilian Defense Units (YPS) Press Office released the following statement on their website:

“Our YPS units established an AKP member by the name of Sami Çiftçi, from the village of Helankê in Hakkari's Şemzinan (Şemdinli) district, engaged in spying activities in Şemzinan region for the past one week. Putting the person in question under surveillance, our units determined him to be operating in order to locate our units.

This person, who was confirmed to be engaged in spying activities and prostitution efforts, had been warned by our units but still did not heed the warnings, for which reason he was punished by our units in between Helankê and Demanê villages at 22:00 on July 22. Following this action which was carried out by Martyr Baz Faraşin team, the war forces of the AKP launched an operation in Helankê village and surroundings and the operation still continues.”

YPS Press Office gave the following information about a clash with Turkish forces in Dersim on July 15:

“A unit of our forces was ambushed while on their way back from a mission near the Başkaleci village in Dersim's Pülümür district at around 22:30 on July 15. The ambushed YPS unit engaged in an armed confrontation with the enemy and our comrade Seyit who fought bravely during the fighting fell a martyr.”

YPS offered condolences to the family of the fallen fighter and the people of Kurdistan, and vowed to avange him as a revolutionary mission and duty of honour.
