YPJ fighters who took part in the operation to liberate Tal Hamis that started on 21 February and resulted in the liberation of the town on 27 February, told ANF about the operation. The women fighters said that they took revenge for those comrades who had fallen last year in clashes with ISIS in the region.

YPJ fighters said the operation was meticulously and seriously planned for a long time and that they are happy with the result, adding that the losses in Tal Hamis that the Kurdish forces suffered last year in the war with ISIS motivated them further to liberate the town from the ISIS gangs.

“Last year our comrades fell here in clashes. We vowed to take revenge for them. We started the operation in memory of those comrades and now we are in Tal Hamis, which is fully under our control. The comrades are preparing the emplacements now”, said a woman fighter.

The YPJ fighter added that their success depended on their determination and faith, adding that believing in what they fight for brings success whatever the conditions.

Another YPJ fighter said they continued the fight despite the loss of their comrades affecting them and at the end fulfilled their duties in memory of the fallen. She added that they are quite happy to have taken revenge for their comrades and to have liberated the town, forcing ISIS gangs to flee.
