Following the liberation of Kobanê city, YPG/YPJ forces are continuing operations against ISIS gangs. After liberating the village of Baxdikê they are close to the town of Girê Sipî (Tel Abyad).
During the attack on the village of Baxdikê 23 gang members were killed and large quantities of equipment seized. Other gang members fled to the village of Xanê 2 kilometres away, which YPG/YPJ forces have surrounded.
YPJ commander Sorwxîn Zagros visited the positions of the fighters after they had taken the village of Baxdikê. She embraced the fighters and explained the latest situation at the front.
YPJ commander emphasized the sacrifices made by the fighters during the 5-month epic resistance in Kobanê, adding that from conversations they had heard gang members have between themselves the gangs respected them, even if they insulted them.
Zagros continued, saying: "We destroyed most of the ISIS cadre in Kobanê city, the remainder are villagers coerced into fighting. They are inexperienced and run away when a bomb explodes, whereas YPG/YPJ forces do not fear the enemy and have sworn to cleanse the village of Serzorî of these savage gangs."
YPJ commander Zagros added that the war they were waging was on behalf of all the peoples living in the region, the Assyrians, Syriacs, Turkmen, Azaeris, Yazidis, Arabs and Kurds. She said their philosophy was to protect all the beliefs, cultures and identities. “These reactionary forces should know that our rifle barrels will be on their necks. We have pledged that we will continue our struggle until we have liberated the land, the peoples and our leader.”
