YPG/YPJ fighters have reached the summit of ‘Abd al Aziz mountain (Jebel ‘Abd al Aziz), a principal ISIS base.

YPG/YPJ forces launched an attack from three sides on the main ISIS base located on ‘Abd al Aziz mountain (Jebel ‘Abd al Aziz), taking control of the hill where a radio station is situated in the early hours of the morning.

On the 14th day of the Commander Rubar Qamishlo operation to liberate the western rural parts of Cizîr Canton, YPG forces reached the summit of ‘Abd al Aziz mountain (Jebel ‘Abd al Aziz), at an altitude of 920 metres. YPG forces now have control of 60% of the mountain.

In battles to take the radio station from the gangs many gang members were killed.

The villages of Til Xelif, Dipset, Xerap Zera and Sira on the northern slopes of the mountain were also cleansed of the gangs and liberated.

The YPG operation also liberated the villages of Talaa and Merkep. Last night an ISIS group launched an attack from Til Xenzir to the west of Serêkanîyê on the Turkish border in an attempt to rescue gang members who had been surrounded.
