YPG/YPJ continue to operate against ISIS near Kobanê

Combined forces of the People’s Defense Units (YPG) and the Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) simultaneously launched a key operation in western Kobanê, Rojava.
In south Kobanê, the ISIS gangs attempted for an attack on the village of Sina where a minor battle was erupted after YPG/YPJ units’ rapid involvement in the region. According to what has been verified, one ISIS member was killed there, remaining attackers were eventually forced to flee the location.
The statement said that another ISIS offensive was led near the southern village of Makharaten. Using heavy weaponry and heavy mortar fire, ISIS gangs performed an intense bombardment on YPG/YPJ forces’ fighting positions in that village. The assailants then moved to carry out a ground attack, yet they were effectively targeted by YPG/YPJ troops and finally forced to withdraw the stated zone.
In west Kobanê, -the statement said- a quick assault operation was conducted by the Defense Units near the village of Shiukh (Seikhler). An ISIS unit on the movement to the western side of the Euphrates River was heavily targeted by Defense Units, YPG said, adding that an ISIS fighter was confirmed killed as result of the operation.
