YPG: Six villages liberated, 18 terrorists killed

YPG/YPJ fighters have liberated six villages and killed 18 ISIS terrorists in the ongoing operation to liberate Kobanê.

YPG Press Centre reported in a written statement that the operation to liberate Kobanê which was started after the town centre was cleansed of ISIS groups on 26 January continues successfully.

The statement said that YPG/YPJ fighters have reached their prior emplacements in use before the occupation attempt of the ISIS in west, south-west and southern parts of Kobanê as a result of accomplished offensives conducted as part of the operation. The Press Centre noted that YPG/YPJ have achieved dominance in areas that are witnessing clashes.

According to the statement, Defense Units continued last night their operations against the ISIS gangs. A strategically important terrain near the cement plant in east Kobanê was cleansed of ISIS groups while another concurrent offensive targeted the gang groups in the area of Çelebî silos. 3 members of the gang groups were killed and their arms and munitions were seized.

An attack against the terrorist groups in an area between Gire Xanê and Serzûrî earlier today has left 11 ISIS members dead while two military vehicles and a motorcycle belonging to them were destroyed.

The statement said that YPG/YPJ fighters liberated the villages of Têlek, Ewênê, Qinê, Êlecax, Zarkotek and Koordînê as a result of an offensive conducted in southwest Kobanê last night. Two gang members were ascertained killed and arms belonging to them were seized.

YPG Press Centre noted that 2 other members of ISIS terrorists were killed in short-lasting clashes near the village of Getaş in the west and the villages of Dafiye and Xirab Bergê in the south.

The statement added that 7 YPG/YPJ have lost their lives and 4 others were wounded in clashes and offensives during the last 24 hours.
