YPG: More villages and strategic points liberated

YPG/YPJ fighters have liberated a number of occupied villages and points as part of the operation to liberate Kobanê which is going on on the 158th day of resistance to the occupation attempt of ISIS gangs.

YPG Press Centre reported in a written statement that ISIS gangs are fleeing the battle field in many areas that are witnessing fierce clashes as YPG/YPJ are making further advances in the ongoing operation to liberate the rural areas of Kobanê.

According to the information provided by YPG Press Centre,

- the strategic hill of Zagros, villages of Berkel and Getas and surrounding areas in west Kobanê,

- the villages of Xêrûs, Hemdînê Rojava, Hemdînê Rojhilat, Seyîd Keta, Xirab Bergîr, Dafîyê, Zagros, Xatûnîyê, Kofîn, Xidir Şetê, Nasir in south Kobanê,

- villages of Sam and Piling in south-west Kobanê and

- the village of Hurk and the strategic cement plant in east Kobanê were cleansed of ISIS gangs and liberated the day before.

Defense Units are ceaselessly continuing offensives as part of the operation to liberate Kobanê since last night, the Press Centre said, adding that the village of Dadalî and the strategic Cibil Ferec check point were also liberated from ISIS groups as a result of operations in west Kobanê. One ISIS member was captured alive, it added.

YPG Press Centre further reported that the villages of Asmê and Zerik were reseized from gangs as a result of an operation in south Kobanê, pointing out that by taking the Zerik village YPG/YPJ have managed to reach their prior emplacements in use before the occupation of Kobanê. Two members of the gangs were ascertained killed here, it noted.

Remarking that the advance of YPG/YPJ fighters in south-east Kobanê also continues, the Press Centre reported that the strategic hill of Girê Xwedê was retaken from the gang groups following an operation.

According to the statement, YPG/YPJ carried out a concurrent attack on the village of Kûrek where ISIS groups attempted to hinder Defense Units by detonating the explosives they had formerly placed in houses in the village, however not managing to cause any loss for YPG/YPJ while leaving many houses unusable as a result of blasts.

12 members of the ISIS were captured alive in the operation launched here, the YPG PREss Centre said, adding that arms belonging to the gangs were also seized.
