YPG: 18 villages liberated, 73 terrorists killed

YPG Press Centre reported in a written statement that People's / Women's Defense Units on 21 Feb. evening launched an operation against the terrorist organization of ISIS which became a trouble to the world and humanity and also constitutes a serious threat against the Rojava Revolution. YPG said that the operation which is also being supported by the international coalition against ISIS continued successfully for the second day.

Remarking that 22 villages were liberated on the first day of the operation in Qamishlo, Til Hamis and Hedad triangle where offensives continued last night as well, YPG Press Centre stated that Xirbet El Baxil, Safya, Kemyonê, Ellaya, Damercê, Um Izam, Xirbet El Ebid, Wawiyye, Şiwera, Qersê and Tiwêl junction were cleansed of terrorist groups and liberated following clashes with ISIS groups. One ISIS member by the name of Ebu Misheb Şamî was captured alive while three vehicles, two motorcycles and large quantities of ammunition belonging to the gang groups were seized, the statement added.

According to the statement, YPG/YPJ forces inflicted severe blows on ISIS groups in fierce clashes that erupted yesterday morning and continued till earlier today. As a result of offensives that targeted areas to the southwest of Jazaa as part of the same operation, the villages of Xezaa, Temim, Umeyye, Wail, Large and Small Texlib, Rabîa and Selîmê as well as the Selîmê junction were liberated and munitions of the terrorists were seized.

YPG Press Centre said that 18 villages were reseized from ISIS groups and 73 members of theirs were killed on the second day of the operation.

2 YPG/YPJ fighters martyred

The statement reported that 2 fighters of the YPG/YPJ lost their lives in clashes.

Fierce clashes continue

YPG pointed out that the terrorist organization of ISIS which has suffered heavy blows in Qamishlo, Til Hemis and Jazaa region wanted now to take revenge on the people of Til Temir, adding; “For this purpose, ISIS groups have launched an attack against the villages of Xebis, Shemiran, Xerîta and the Nasir hill early this morning. Violent clashes that erupted upon the immediate response of our forces, are continuing.”

Operations will continue until ISIS is eliminated

The statement ended by vowing that YPG/YPJ fighters who have mounted splendid resistance against ISIS terrorism in Rabîa, Sinjar, Jazaa and Kobanê will continue their operations until the danger of ISIS is eliminated from the entire region.
