YPG Press Office has announced in a written statement that Commander Rubar Qamislo Operation launched by YPG/YPJ forces from Kobanê and Cizîr Cantons against the ISIS gangs positioned around Girê Spî (Tel Abyad) continues in its 41th day.
YPG said the town of Girê Spî and around 40 villages in its surroundings were encircled following the uniting of the YPG/YPJ forces from Kobanê ve Cizîr cantons at noon yesterday, adding that the YPG/YPJ forces launched operations against the encircled groups starting from early evening hours. YPG said sporadic clashes took place between the YPG/YPJ forces and the ISIS gang members, who attempted to flee away by breaking the siege.
The statement reported that 124 gang members were killed in the clashes that took place in the last 24 hours, adding that corpses of 60 of those killed were seized by the YPG/YPJ forces in addition to a very large amount of ammunition and weapons.
YPG stated that the ISIS occupation in Girê Spî has been terminated as a result of these operations and added that searching and cleaning activities in the last two neighbourhoods in the town have also been completed this morning. YPG lastly reported that the searching and cleaning activities continue in the villages around Girê Spî.
