YJA STAR guerrilla martyred in Eruh

A YJA STAR guerrilla by the name of Maxzume Muhammedzade (Sarya Onur) has lost her life in a short clash that took place following an ambush laid by Turkish soldiers in Eruh district of Siirt.

People’s Defence Forces (HPG) Press Office has announced today that a member of Women’s Guerrilla Army YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops), Maxzume Muhammedzade (Sarya Onur) was martyred in a clash between guerrillas and Turkish soldiers in the area between the Tirya and Xargul military posts on 14 June 2015.

HPG said the guerrillas stepped one level back following the short clash in order not to give rise to a bigger incident.

The statement stressed that the Turkish army ceaselessly continue its operations and provocative actions against the guerrilla forces despite the guerrillas acting utmost attentive in order not to create a conflict environment.

HPG reported that Sarya Onur from Selmas, East Kurdistan joined the ranks of Kurdish Liberation Movement in 2011, and moved to Botan region after completing her training.

“Comrade Sara who joined the PKK ranks with a longing for freedom and justice, just like thousands of youths from Rojhilat (East Kurdistan), took part in the struggle together alongside all those who created a dignified life through a big resistance and a determined will. Comrade Sarya has fallen waging a struggle in the ranks of (YJA STAR), the largest and the broadest liberation movement of women in four parts of Kurdistan and the Middle East”, said the HPG.
