YBŞ and YPJ Sinjar General Commands released a statement wishing a happy Çarşema Sor to all the Yazidi people, saying this year’s festival marks the liberation of Sinjar and the Yazidi people.

The statement recalled the attacks of the ISIS gangs on Sinjar on 3 August and the displacement of thousands of people, adding that this year the Çarşema Sor festival is being celebrated on Mount Sinjar with the spirit of resistance. The statement said the Çarşema Sor is the New Year festival of the Yazidi people and called on all the Yazidi people to take part in the struggle to reclaim their lands, culture and faith.

YBŞ and YPJ Sinjar recalled that the Yazidi people have always lived in their lands with their own culture and faith but have always been attacked and exposed to the repression of the imperialist powers and their collaborators in the Middle East, adding that the Yazidi people have always resisted this repression and cruelty and massacres.

The statement said Yazidi people who have resisted and reclaimed their lands, culture and faith and are now  celebrating their festival with the spirit of resistance.YBŞ and YPJ Sinjar said Çarşema Sor represents the birth of the universe and humanity, and is the most sacred festival of the Yazidi people celebrated with great enthusiasm and a spirit of resistance.

YBŞ and YPJ Sinjar lastly called on all the peoples of the region to take part in the struggle and vowed to liberate Sinjar.
