Yazidis in Tirbespiye: Iraqi government should keep off Turkish influence

The Yazidis in Tirbespiye condemned the Iraqi government’s attacks against the will of the Shengal people. They urged the Iraqi government to keep off the influence of the Turkish state’s dirty policies.

Iraqi government forces attempted to enter to the village of Girzerik in Shengal on 20 April. The local people, however, confronted the Iraqi forces and did not allow them to enter the area. Kurdish political parties and non-governmental organizations have strongly responded to the Iraqi government's disregard of Yazidi people under Turkey’s influence.

The Yazidis living in Tirbespiye, northeastern Syria, expressed their condemnation of the Iraqi government’s actions and warned against an imminent annihilation campaign against the Yazidi community.

“YAZIDIS RESISTED ISIS”

Cizire Region Yazidi House Co-Chair Leyla Ibrahim stated that the Shengal people do not want anyone to interfere with their internal affairs. She emphasized their rejection of the denial of the Yazidi people's freewill.

Recalling the resistance of the Shengal people against ISIS, which resulted in thousands falling as martyrs, Ibrahim continued:

“The Iraqi government should respect the will of Shengal’s people. The Yazidis have built their own system by removing ISIS from their lands. None of them accepts this intervention by the Iraqi government. These attacks have been carried out against all Yazidis,” she added.

“THEY SHOULD ABANDON CONSPIRACIES”

Nejbir Heysem, condemning the policies of the Iraqi government against the people of Shengal, said: “Yazidi youth resisted ISIS while nobody confronted it. Even the European and international community remained helpless. However, the Yazidi people protected their faith and land. The Iraqi government should not try to implement the dirty policies of the Turkish state. It must renounce these conspiracies."
