Women in Maxmur call for support for the Kurds and recognition of Kurdish rights

Women living in Maxmur condemned the attacks by the Turkish state and allied mercenaries against Rojava and called on the world states to recognise the rights of the Kurdish people.

Women living in the Şehîd Rûstem Cûdî Refugee Camp in Maxmur in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) spoke to ANF about the escalating attacks against Rojava in parallel with the al-Qaeda-derived Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) coming to power in Damascus after the fall of the Assad regime.

Expressing their solidarity with the resistance of the Rojava people, the women warned that the Kurdish people should be ready to confront the attacks directed against them.

Rûxweş Efrîn stated that what is happening is part of a big political scheme and said, “We are facing a very dangerous process, especially after the fall of the Syrian regime.”

Rûxweş Efrîn pointed out that the Kurdish people need to be vigilant against possible developments as international powers are based on their own interests: “We have to be united and organised, otherwise we may suffer great losses. However, we believe that we will not lose thanks to our martyrs and our comrades taking part in the struggle. While attacks on Rojava continue, our women and young people are resisting all over Kurdistan. We are also with them. Maybe we are not physically there, but our spirit and voice are with the people there.”

Rûxweş Efrîn addressed especially the Kurds who support the Erdoğan regime in Turkey and stated: “Come to your senses and stand up for Rojava. Women are keeping watch in Kobanê, Qamişlo and many other places, vowing that they will not allow the occupation of their land. As women in Maxmur, we are with them in spirit and we are ready to support them in any way we can. Victory will be for the women and all our friends who are putting up resistance on those fronts. We will tand behind our people and our fighters until the end.”

Rêzbar Çelê also saluted the ongoing resistance in Rojava and said: “All Kurds living in the North, South, East and West of Kurdistan should have a common identity and rights. We are a nation, we need to be recognised in the world and gain rights. I call on all the states of the world to support the Kurdish people. We condemn the states that support Erdoğan and the war against Rojava. Everyone must stand up wherever they are against the attacks on the people of Rojava. We see that Erdoğan is bombing everywhere without distinction. The only way to stop this war is for the Kurdish people to stand up and unite everywhere. This persecution and oppression must end. The hearts of the mothers should finally be relieved.”
