Wildfire in Mardin countryside grows

Fire erupted in the Turkish military operation zone in the countryside of Mardin. The fire is growing every minute.

A huge wildfire broke out in the rural areas of Çalı (Çalê) village in Mardin’s Nusaybin district where the Turkish army has launched an operation with the participation of a large number of soldiers and village guards (local groups armed by the State to fight against the Kurdish people).

The fire is spreading to a larger area every minute, having already reduced hundreds of trees to ashes. Local people are desperately trying to extinguish the fire through their own means but cannot take it under control as it has already reached the village and Pınarbaşı (Serêkaniyê) hamlet.

It grabs attention that the State makes no efforts to stop the fire which constitutes a great risk for the local people.

On the other hand, another fire started in the rural areas of Yavruköy and İlkadım villages where a curfew has been declared Wednesday morning on the grounds of a military operation to be carried out in the region.
