Where are the bodies of female guerrillas who fell in Besta?

Out of the 8 YJA-STAR guerrillas who lost their lives in Besta, countryside of Şırnak, bodies of only 4 have been given to families.

HPG had announced the martyrdom of 13 HPG and YJA-STAR guerrillas, including YJA-STAR Commander Hülya Eroğlu (Delal Amed), during the Turkish army operation participated by thousands of soldiers in Besta region of Şırnak province. Eroğlu’s body was identified and handed over to family in one day.

Family of Ferfure Uçakan (Ronahi Amed) who fell in the same operation appealed to Şırnak Public Prosecutor’s Office to reclaim the body. Uçakan’s brother Rutbettin Uçakan, who went to Şırnak Public Hospital following the appeal, stated that bodies of only two women were in the hospital morgue and these were unidentifiable.

While Uçakan gave a DNA sample as he couldn’t identify her sister’s body, he could not obtain information as to where bodies of the other 4 YJA-STAR guerrillas are.

“They showed me only bodies of slain woman as my sister could be one of them. I know from the media reports that 8 women lost their lives in that operation. Body of Delal Amed has been given to her family. There were only two women’s bodies in the morgue. We couldn’t get information on where the other bodies are. If she has been killed, we want her body. If not, we want to learn about her aftermath”, said Rutbettin Uçakan.

Uçakan said they will appeal to the Human Rights Association (IHD) on the matter, and demanded an immediate explanation.

Bodies of Evin Çetinkaya (Zozan Herekol) and Serhat Özcan (Hozan Mizgîn), who fell during the air-supported operation of the Turkish army in Besta region on November 15, were buried in Batman before.
