The founding meeting of the Universities Council of Northern and Eastern Syria was held at the Raqqa Sharq University building.
The meeting was attended by co-chairs of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Evîn Siwês and Hisên Osman, as well as representatives from universities in the region (Rojava, Sharq, and Kobane), the co-chairs of the Autonomous Administration's Education and Training Council, and representatives from various educational institutions.
Following a minute's silence in tribute, Xelef El Meter, co-chair of the Education and Training Council of the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria, congratulated the participants on the establishment of the council, describing it as an important step forward for advancing higher education.
Next, the regulations for universities in Northern and Eastern Syria were read aloud. The regulations for the newly formed Universities Council, prepared by the organizing committee, were also presented.
After making some amendments to the articles, the participants discussed and approved the regulations.
On the first day of the meeting, a Democratic Autonomous Administration Education and Training Board was established, consisting of a 20-member council representing the three universities.
Additionally, participants elected Medya Hemşo and Xelîl El Elî as co-chairs of the council.
Today, the draft proposal for the duties and regulations of the Democratic Autonomous Administration institutions, as well as the communication mechanism between university councils, will be reviewed.
