UN disregards the Kaçar family deported by KDP from Hewler

Hasan Kaçar, who was deported from Hewler (Erbil), South Kurdistan since he did not accept the spying and betrayal imposed by the KDP, is waiting for an answer from the UN in Sulaymaniyah after the repeated applications he filed.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) member Hasan Kaçar and his family were forcibly deported to Sulaymaniyah by the Hewler (Erbil) Asayish (Public Security Force) in November 2021. Kaçar was poisoned while he was jailed in Turkish prisons and now has serious health problems. He is not allowed to get his household items and his children's clothes back from Hewler even though he has applied several times to do so.

37-year-old Kaçar from Hakkari talked to ANHA about the reason for his deportation from Hewler and his experiences.

POISONED IN TURKISH PRISON

Kaçar said that he was arrested in North Kurdistan (Turkey) in 2003 after an informant had given a statement against him and he was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2009 on the charge of “dividing the Turkish state”.

Kaçar, who was sentenced to solitary confinement in Van in 2007, explained that he was poisoned in the prison which led to the emergence of some diseases. “They poisoned me somehow while I was kept in the cell. Then I was taken out of the cell. Until then, I had no disease. After the solitary confinement, my health gradually deteriorated. My whole body started to ache. I lost my hair. The people I knew didn't recognize me anymore. I was not taken to a hospital for proper treatment. After each time I went to the hospital, the drugs I was given were affecting my condition more negatively.”

When Kaçar suspected that he had been poisoned, he did not take any medication other than painkillers for a long time and was exiled to Rize Kalkandere Prison since he did not accept the treatment. “My health was gradually deteriorating. I could barely stand on my feet.”

ONE-YEAR TREATMENT AT CERRAHPAŞA HOSPITAL

Kaçar is one of the very few sick prisoners who were released after Abdullah Öcalan demanded the release of all prisoners with health issues during the talks with the Turkish officials.

Kaçar remarked that he received treatment at Istanbul Cerrahpaşa Hospital for a year and a forensic medicine report was prepared for him. “For the first time, my diagnosis was done correctly. I was poisoned with a chemical substance. It damaged my lungs and my immune system collapsed. The diagnosis revealed that I had infection, oedema, liver failure, and heart problems. The forensic medicine report said that "if he is not treated, he will die". The Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) in Istanbul recognized this report. I made a complaint about it, but no reply has been given to me yet.”

'MY REPORT HAS BEEN CHANGED'

“A prosecutor allowed me to continue my treatment at Cerrahpaşa Hospital. However, there was no place for the detainees there. A place was arranged in the hospital after 3 months and I started to receive treatment again. Yet, the treatment didn't work. Following the 4th report from the hospital, the prosecutor finally released me for 6 months in March 2014.”

'KDP WANTS EVERYONE TO BE AGENTS LIKE THEMSELVES'

When Kaçar realized that he would be arrested again, he decided to go to South Kurdistan, North Iraq.

Kaçar, who stayed in Hewler from 2015 until November 23, 2021, said the following on his deportation to Sulaymaniyah: “They want to intimidate us. However, honourable and genuine patriots are not afraid, they do not know this. The main reason why we were expelled from Hewler is the partnership of the KDP with the Turkish state. The KDP wants everyone to be agents working on behalf of the Turkish state like themselves. During the whole process, the UN stood by the KDP. They asked for information about me from the KDP. The KDP told the UN that I was dangerous for them and could not stay in Hewler.”

Kaçar added that he asked the UN to bring his documents from Hewler, yet there has been no reply so far.
