People’s Defence Forces (HPG) Press Office reported in its daily statement that reconnaissance flights of the Turkish military over Medya Defence Zones continue increasingly. While Turkish air forces carry out intense flights over Çarçella, Avashin, Heftanin and Zap areas of Medya Defence Zones, the retaliation actions of the guerrilla forces against the attacks also continue.
Regarding the reconnaissance flights carried out by Turkish unmanned aerial vehicles, HPG gave the following information:
-Over Çarçella area of Zagros region of Medya Defence Zones starting at 18:00 on August 5 and continuing on 6 August,
-Over Avashin area and border line in the last two days,
-Over Heftanin area and its border line at between 14:30 – 16:30 on August 5,
-Over Zap region at between 06:00 – 16:30 on August 5 and at between 19:00 on August 5 and 05:00 on August 6.
HPG reported that the artillery bombardments of Turkish troops against the guerrilla held areas also continue increasingly, and gave the following information regarding the bombardments carried out by Turkish troops with howitzers, tanks and mortars:
Bombardments launched from Grana military post at the Avashin border line have been targeting Govendê area since 5 August,
Bombardment launched from Oremar military post in Yüksekova district of Hakkari targeted Martyr Bager and martyr Gafur areas at between 13:00 – 14:00 on August 5,
Bombardment launched from Mamreş and Grana military posts at the Avashin border line targeted Mergê area at between 18:00 – 19:00 on August 5.
The HPG guerrillas responded against these attacks by carrying out an action on Oremar military post with heavy weaponry at 19:00 on August 5.
Bombardment launched from Çete Hill and Maymun Hill military posts and Gülyazı Regiment, supported aerially by drones, targeted Deriyê Davetiya area at between 16:30 – 19:30 on August 5,
Bombardment launched from Bilican military post at the border line of Zap region targeted Martyr Colemerg are at 11:30 on August 5,
Bombardment launched from Eriş military post targeted Xeregol, Hakan Hill, Dola Şıfreza and Canmeda areas at between 12:30 – 14:00 on August 5,
Bombardment launched from Bilican military post targeted its surroundings at between 18:00 – 22:30 on August 5,
Bombardment launched from Çelê Nımêja targeted Besta area at 20:00 on August 5,
Bombardments launched from Beste military post have been targeting Gabar area for the last several days.
HPG Press Office further reported that wild fires erupted at many points due to the bombardments of the Turkish troops.
Guerrilla actions continue
HPG went on reporting the retaliation actions carried out by the guerrilla forces. Accordingly,
Guerrillas carried out a sabotage action against an armoured vehicle in Koçer neighbourhood of Nusaybin district of Mardin at 22:30 on August 2, leaving the vehicle destroyed. While the number of the casualties could not be clarified, the action was carried out in memory of Martyr Gelhat Gever.
Guerrilla forces blockaded the roads in Beytüşşebab district of Şırnak as well as the ones leading to farmlands from the district, seizing a vehicle of the district governor's office in addition to one camera, 3 small devices and some documents in the vehicle at 14:00 on August 5.
At 14:00 on August 4, guerrillas sabotaged an armoured vehicle on move between Dargeçit and Midyat districts of Mardin. While the vehicle was damaged, Turkish troops launched an operation in the area following the action, but had to retreat the same day without any results.
Guerrillas carried out another sabotage action against two armoured vehicles in Güneşli neighbourhood of Gevaş district of Van at 14:30 on August 4, leaving both vehicles damaged and one soldier seriously wounded.
An attack was carried out by guerrilla forces on Gendarme battalion and its ammunition store in Hani district of Amed at 03:00 on August 5. While one soldier was killed in the attack, an ammunition store and the cafeteria in the Gendarme unit was damaged. Another targeted attack hit the emplacement area, where one was destroyed, one soldier was killed while four others were wounded, two being seriously.
Four police officers were wounded in a targeted attack carried out by the guerrillas against the police station located at Huzurevleri neighbourhood of Amed at 21:00 on August 4.
Guerrilla forces took control of the road between Farqin and Pasur districts of Amed at between 17:30 – 22:30 on August 5.
A sabotage action was carried out on the oil pipeline in between Kozluk and Bekirxan districts of Batman at 11:50 on August 5.
Armoured vehicles on move between Bitlis and Baykan were damaged in a sabotage action by guerrillas at 06:00 on August 5.
Guerrillas carried out another sabotage action on armoured vehicles on move in between Karakoçan district of Elazığ and Kıği district of Bingöl at 04:00 on August 3. While one armoured vehicle was completely destroyed in the action, the number of the casualties of Turkish forces could not be clarified.
Turkish troops laying ambushes in the surroundings of Kalkoç village of Karakoçan district of Elazığ were effectively hit by the guerrillas at 04:00 on August 4. The action left two soldiers dead and two others wounded.
Guerrillas took control of the road between Karayazı and Karaçoban districts of Erzurum at between 21:00 on August 4 and the early morning hours on August 5.
