Turkish helicopter downed, seven soldiers killed in South Kurdistan

Guerrillas shot down a Turkish attack helicopter in Metîna and killed another seven soldiers of the invading forces. The Turkish army used chemical weapons 33 times in the Zap, and the Medya Defense Zones were bombed 46 times by fighter jets.

The guerrillas continue their resistance against the Turkish occupation operation in guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) unabated. According to the press center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG), another Turkish army attack helicopter has been shot down. In the latest guerrilla actions, seven soldiers were killed and a Turkish position was destroyed. The occupation forces used chemical weapons 33 times against guerrilla positions in the Zap region, and carried out 46 air strikes and hundreds of artillery attacks. In addition to Zap and Metîna, fighter jets also bombed the village of Yekmal in Gare and the village of Şêxan in the Kalatuka area in Qandil several times on Wednesday.

HPG provided the following information on the current situation in the Metîna and Zap regions:

Metîna

On Wednesday at noon, a Turkish unit was targeted and hit by the guerrillas in Girê Azad Gorge. In the evening, the occupation forces in the Girê Hakkari resistance area were struck with firearms and hand grenades, as a result of which two soldiers were killed and another was injured. At two o'clock in the morning, the guerrillas fired from two flanks at two attack helicopters that were in the process of attacking Girê Hakkari. Both helicopters were hit, while one of them crashed and was completely destroyed.

Zap

Two soldiers were shot dead by YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) snipers in the Karker area on Wednesday. In the Şehîd Şahîn resistance area, guerrillas hit a Turkish unit that was cutting down trees, killing one soldier. In the same area, the guerrillas intervened with heavy weapons against a unit that wanted to carry out blasts at the Şehîd Berxwedan position. The unit then withdrew.

At 5:10 a.m. today, a Turkish army military camp at Girê Cûdî was infiltrated and assaulted by guerrillas from two flanks with firearms and hand grenades. Two soldiers were killed and two others were wounded as a result, and the position was completely destroyed. The surviving soldiers were forced to retreat.
