“Turkish bases in Bashur are permitted by the government"

Hewlêr Provincial Council Member Got said the government has great support for the presence of the Turkish state in Southern Kurdistan. "KDP government has ties of interest with Turkey, so they both fail to protect the region and aid Turkish forces."

As Turkish state’s invasion attacks against Bashure (Southern) Kurdistan continue for days, many civilians have been massacred and residential areas have suffered damages.

Hewlêr Provincial Council Member Dilêr Hisên Got criticized the government’s stance on the invading Turkish state’s attacks against Bashur and stated that the government’s inaction is behind the increase in the Turkish state’s presence in and attacks against Bashur.

Dilêr Hisên said the provincial council members have no power against Turkish state attacks other than condemning them, and continued: “Council members, the administration is controlled by the KDP. And the KDP doesn’t take any stance against these attacks by the Turkish state, they don’t think this issue is important. KDP has always put party interests above national interests. They don’t react at all against the Turkish state attacks, they are almost at the point of considering them righteous.”

Dilêr Hisên pointed out that the Turkish state’s presence in Iraq and Kurdistan goes against international law, but they have been in the region for years regardless. Hisên added that the presence of these forces is a great risk to peace in the region and continued: “The Kurdistan Region and Iraqi territory is controlled by the Iraqi government. If we will speak of the unity and integrity of Iraq, there must be an objection to aerial attacks and border violations. Iraq and the government should protest attacks against the Kurdistan region.”

Dilêr Hisên said the government is controlled by the KDP and added: “The Kurdistan Regional Government is controlled by the KDP. The government has ties of interest with the Turkish state, so they both fail to protect the region and aid Turkish forces.”
