Turkish army terrorizes people after Newroz celebration in a village in Bingöl

Turkish soldiers harassed the population in a village in the Kurdish province of Bingöl for celebrating Newroz with a bonfire on March 21. People were forced to gather in the village square and were insulted.

After a Newroz celebration in the village of Yorgançayır, in Karlıova district of Bingöl, Turkish troops have stormed the village yesterday and today. According to villagers, the reason given was the fire lit during the celebration. People were forced to gather in the village square and were insulted and abused by soldiers.

After the villagers protested against the military's actions, eleven-year-old S.Ö. was then violently mistreated. Gülbahar Öge, Mehmet Üzen and Tahir Üzen were arrested for filming the soldiers' insults. They were released two hours later after all recordings in their phones were deleted.
