YBŞ fighter Şervan Êzidxan fell a martyr during the resistance to the occupation attacks carried out by the Iraqi army against Shengal on May 2.

Şervan Êzidxan who was martyred in Sinunê during the attacks of Iraqi government forces on Şengal on May 2 and laid to rest on May 4, was commemorated in a ceremony held in Şehit Dilgêş and Şehit Berxwedan Cemetery of Martyrs.

Following a moment of silence, families of martyrs lit candles for those who were martyred in the struggle for freedom and democracy.

Spokesperson of the Martyrs' Families Institution, Hemed Bişar, said that the Iraqi government has recently increased its pressure to attack civilians and security forces. “Our people, women and the youth joined the struggle in order to confront this attack. We stand against the hostile attitude of the Iraqi army. We know that Iraq is attacking our people under the influence of foreign powers. We call on the Iraqi government to get rid of the influence of foreign powers and some political parties that are the enemies of the Yazidi community. The Yazidis will resist to the end,” Bişar said.

“This attack has shown that Iraq does not act on its own will, it is under the influence of some foreign powers. As the people of Şengal, we have demonstrated how we can protect our people following the last massacre against the Yazidis. From now on, we will continue to resist and protect our people. Our people responded to all attacks, conspiracies and dirty plans,” Şengal Autonomous Administration Co-Chair Riham Hesen said.

“Our people will not come under the influence of any foreign power. We will fight for the rights of our people. We know that there are dirty conspiracies against Şengal. We will oppose all plans and attacks,” Şemo Xwedêda, one of the Yazidi tribal leaders, said.
