"This will be the year of victory and autonomy for Shengal"

A ceremony was held in Shengal to mark the second year anniversary of the ISIS massacre and founding of the Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ).

Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) and Shengal Women's Units (YJŞ) held a military ceremony in Shengal's Xanesor village to mark the second year anniversary of the Shengal massacre. The ceremony was attended by 350 fighters in addition to YBŞ/YJŞ General commanders Mazlum Şengal, Raperin Engizek and many commanders from YBŞ/YJŞ.

Speaking here, YBŞ General Commander Mazlum Şengal commemorated all those killed in the massacre committed by ISIS against the Êzîdî people on August 3, 2014. Şengal stressed that this was not only a physical but also a cultural, historical and religious massacre through which colonialist-imperialist powers and ISIS wanted to eradicate the Êzîdî people from history.

He added; "We know those who supported the ISIS gangs, enemies of humanity. We took our lessons from this massacre which was perpetrated because of our failure to form our self-defense and manifest our will. We state hereby that we will no more accept a life without politics, ideology and self-defense."

Şengal recalled that YBŞ organized themselves as a will and self-sacrificing force, and defended the Êzîdî people from the first day of the massacre, playing an active role on Mount Shengal and in the liberation of the Shengal town center and villages where gangs had been deployed.

"This emerging will is the defense force of Êzîdxan and all the Ezîdî people, also of our people living outside the Shengal town. It is our primary goal to revive the history of our people, to enable them to live with honor and will, and to realize the philosophy and ideology of Leader Apo. YBŞ will be fighting the gangs and colonialist powers in these lands. We call upon those who were a party to the Shengal massacre to not miscalculate on this folk as our people are no more like they used to be. Besides, no power can rule this folk like they used to."

YBŞ General Commander Mazlum Şengal underlined the importance of establishing a joint command to fight against these gangs and colonialist powers, adding; "YBŞ belongs to the Êzîdî people and it is the self-defense force of Êzîdxan defending their own people, lands and Kurdistan."

Şengal stressed that the second year of the massacre will be the year of victory and freedom for Shengal, and the year of realization of autonomous administration.
