Tevgera Azadi, Kurdistan Left Coordination denounce the Turkish offensive in South Kurdistan

The Tevgera Azadî (Freedom Movement) and the Kurdistan Left Coordination Commission made a statement against the recent wave of Turkish attacks in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

Tevgera Azadî ya Civaka Kurdistanê (Kurdistan Community Freedom Movement) made a press statement in Sulaymaniyah concerning the attack launched by the Turkish army to occupy South Kurdistan in cooperation with the ruling party, KDP.

Tevgera Azadî Co-Chair Mihemed Abdullah remarked that the Kurdish people are facing a conspiracy and that the current silence means submission and the only way to get rid of it is unity, solidarity and resistance.

“The Barzani Family has always been an ally of the Turkish state. They want to offer their party's power and presence in the Kurdistan Region to the service of the Turkish state. Masrour Barzani's visit to Turkey explains the attacks of the Turkish state. The Turkish state will never be successful in its attacks if Kurdish forces do not help them. History has shown that the Kurdish Movement has always made progress. However, this family has always been an ally of the occupying forces against the legitimate cause of the entire Kurdish people and Kurdistan,” Abdullah noted.

“We call on all political parties in Kurdistan to take a stand against the Turkish aggression and the KDP’s betrayal. We call on Peshmerga forces not to be a part of the Turkish occupation. The peshmerga's duty is to protect the people and nation. Point your guns at the enemy, not at your brothers,” Abdullah said.

“We call on the Kurdistan Region government and parliament members not to allow the KDP to decide over the fate of the Kurdistan Region on its own because what will be lost is the status of the Kurdistan Region, which has been achieved by the entire Kurdish people, not by the Barzani family. We appeal to all Iraqi forces; the occupation of the Kurdistan Region is a violation of Iraqi sovereignty. This violation should be rejected,” Abdullah added.

KURDISTAN LEFT COORDINATION: A CLEAR STANCE NEEDED

The Kurdistan Left Coordination Commission also made a statement denouncing the attacks carried out by the Turkish army on the territory of South Kurdistan in cooperation with the KDP.

“We see that the regional government and the Iraqi government have not adopted a proper attitude towards the Turkish attacks. Both governments should be aware of their responsibilities and fulfil them to protect the sovereignty of Kurdistan and Iraq,” the statement said.

The statement urged the United Nations and other sovereign states to take a stand against Turkish military intervention that would disturb peace in the region.

The statement also urged all Kurdish forces to take a clear stance against the Turkish invasion.

The statement was endorsed by the following groups; Shuî Kurdistan Party, Hizba Zehmetkêşên Kurdistan (Kurdistan Labour Party) and Tevgera Demokratîk a gelê Kurdista (Kurdistan People's Democratic Movement).
