Extensive operations by YPG/YPJ fighters in the Tel Hemis, Jazaa and Tel Temir districts of the Cizîrê (Jazireh) Canton of Rojava are continuing. Sinjar Resistance Units (YBŞ) forces, fighting against ISIS in South Kurdistan, are also taking part in the operation in Tel Hemis as it is part of the operation jointly launched by YPG/YPJ and YBŞ forces to liberate the area controlled by the ISIS gangs between the village of Xanesor to the north of Mount Sinjar and Rojava.

The Tel Hemis operation was started after the liberation of 22 villages to the south of Qamislo by the YPG/YPJ forces. The same day a joint operation was launched by the YBŞ fighters to cleanse the area between the north of Mount Sinjar and the Rojava border at Tel Hemis. More than 10 villages in the area, including Barê, Xanesor and Qasim have been liberated so far by the joint resistance forces.
