Deputies from South Kurdistan paid a visit to the village of Zergelê where the Turkish army had carried out a massacre against civilians in the early morning hours on August 1. The deputies met KCK executives to gather more information about the bombardments of the Turkish army.

A delegation of MPs from South Kurdistan, composed of PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) deputies Zana Abdurrahman, Abbas Fetah Salih, Meryem Samet, Kadir Rezgeyi, Xelef Ahmet, Salih Teqi and deputies from Goran (Change) Movement Ömer İnayet, Enver Kadir, Evar İbrahim, Dr. Şerko Mihemmed Emin, visited Zergelê village where the bombardments of the Turkish army claimed the lives of 8 civilians and left 15 others seriously wounded.

Following an inspection at the scene of the bombardment in Zergelê village, the delegation of South Kurdistan parliamentarians met KCK executive Savaş Amed, who informed the delegation about the bombardment of the Turkish warplanes on the village. Amed pointed out in his briefing that Turkish jets had deliberately targeted the village and carried out a massacre of civilians, and called on the Kurdish people and the Kurdish and Turkish political circles to raise sensitivity about the ongoing bombardments of the Turkish army. Amed drew attention to the importance of the solidarity visits and described the visit of the delegation from South Kurdistan as a highly significant one, saying that “All Kurds must wage a joint resistance and struggle against the attacks”.

The members of the delegation stressed that they would be following the incidents and take initiative for holding a special session in the South Kurdistan parliament on the massacre of the Turkish army. The deputies also vowed to visit the Turkish embassy in Hewler (Erbil) to voice their demand for ending of this kind of attacks.

Speaking to ANF, MP Evar İbrahim from Goran Movement urged the Turkish state to immediately stop these attacks and engage in resolution of the Kurdish question through democratic methods.

PUK deputy Salih Teqi drew attention to the fact that the massacres carried out in Kurdistan target not only the people but also the nature, and called on everyone to be utmost sensitive against the attacks.
