People of Efrîn: Newroz fire will not die down

Thousands of people are joining today's celebrations to mark the Kurdish New Year, Newroz, in Efrîn city in Rojava, West Kurdistan.

Speaking on behalf of the people joining the celebration, Rênas Umer stressed that the attacks of ISIS gangs and dark forces will never be able to achieve their goal nor break the will of the Kurdish people.

Rênas Umer said that they have postponed this year's Newroz celebrations from March 21 to 25th as a respect for Hesekê Newroz martyrs, adding that today's event was based on the spirit of resistance and the memory of the martyrs.

Speaking after, Hesen Murad emphasised that this year's Newroz fire is an answer to the enemies of the Kurds, adding; “We as the Kurdish people have a thirst for freedom. This is why nobody can break our free will. I wish the Kurdish leader Rêber Apo and all the Kurdish people a happy Newroz.”

Nezîra Îbrahîm stated that they will never forget the Newroz Martyrs killed in the Hesekê massacre, stressing that they will take the revenge of Hesekê martyrs and reinforce their unity against dark forces and dark-faced gangs.

Besê Hesen, who wished the YPG/YPJ fighters in the area a happy Newroz, vowed that they would fight to the last drop of blood to make sure that the Newroz fire doesn't die down.
