Osman Baydemir nominates himself from Urfa

The former mayor of Amed, Osman Baydemir, has submitted his application to the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) to be a candidate from Urfa for the coming general election in Turkey in June.

The former mayor of Amed, Osman Baydemir, has submitted his application to the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) to be a candidate from Urfa for the coming general election in Turkey in June.

Osman Baydemir, the former mayor of Amed, was also the BDP mayoral candidate in Urfa in the last local elections of March 2014. Baydemir has now applied to be a candidate for nomination from Urfa for the June general elections. Baydemir visited the HDP Urfa branch today and submitted his application.

Receiving Baydemir’s application, HDP Urfa branch co-chairs, Rıdvan Yavuz and Sevda Çelik Özbingöl, said Urfa is a multicultural city and that they are working for the “New life project” in Urfa to build a democratic life. Baydemir said he wanted to continue to work for Urfa, which is a historical and culturally unique city, adding that HDP works to build a new life on the grounds of equality, freedom and justice.
