One year old Baby Miraz imprisoned with mother hospitalized
One year old Baby Miraz, held in prison alongside his mother Gülistan Diken Akbaba, was injured when he hit his head on the concrete floor and has since been hospitalized.
Gülistan Diken Akbaba was a district administrator for the since shut down Peace and Democracy Party (Barış ve Demokrasi Partisi - BDP). She had been released in 2013 after 1.5 years in prison on remand for a case she was on trial for, and was sentenced to 6 years 3 months in prison later on.
Akbaba is held in the Gebze Women’s Prison along with her 1 year old son Miraz. Baby Miraz fell from the door step in the ward last night and hit his head on the concrete floor. The baby was hospitalized immediately in the Farabi Public Hospital as his head was swollen.
Baby Miraz was taken back to the prison after his examination in the hospital, but was returned to be observed when he started to vomit in the ward.
Meanwhile, the judge that presided over Gülistan Diken Akbaba’s case, Judge Mehmet Ekinci, has since been arrested on charges of “membership to FETÖ.”
