After the detention of Ömerli Co-mayor Süleyman Tekin in Mardin, district governor Erol Korkmaz was appointed as trustee to Ömerli Municipality.

Korkmaz was accompanied by armored vehicles when he arrived at the municipal building, which is still besieged by police officers.
