Objections start in Bashur elections

As the counting of the votes continue for the elections held on September 30 in Southern Kurdistan, the New Generation Party and the Goran Movement have announced that they are already rejecting the results.

This Sunday, the Federal Kurdistan Region voters went to the ballots. Participation to the elections was very low, and official results haven’t been declared yet.

86% of the votes have been counted as of 11:00 today, and according to unofficial results the KDP is in the lead, while the PUK comes second, Goran third and the New Generation fourth.

The Goran and New Generation movements have filed objections to the elections, and the New Generation has announced that they won’t be going to the parliament.

According to the already counted part of the vote, the results are as follows:

KDP: 563.000 votes, 43%

PUK: 267.000 votes, 20.4%

Goran Movement: 167.000 votes, 12.8%

New Generation Movement: 116.000 votes, 8.8%

Komele Islami: 98.500 votes, 7.5%

Islah Front Alliance: 74.000 votes, 5.6%

Serdem Alliance: 15.000 votes, 1.1%

The Supreme Board of Elections is expected to declare official results within 72 hours.

As counting continues, several parties have already filed complaints. There are concerns of election fraud.

NEW GENERATION: WE WON’T GO TO THE PARLIAMENT

After election results were leaked to the press, the New Generation Movement (Newey Nwe) Chairperson Shaswar Abdulvahit said they won’t be attending the Kurdistan Parliament’s sessions with the current results of the elections.

Shaswar Abdulvahit held a press statement and said, “There have been irregularities in the election process. As such, we won’t be attending the sessions of the Kurdistan Parliament.”

GORAN: WE REJECT THESE RESULTS

Goran Movement Spokesperson Shoresh Haci said the first step they will take is to completely reject the election results.

Shoresh Haci added that the party will issue an official statement soon.
