Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani released a statement after the call made by Abdullah Öcalan. Barzani said: "Without a doubt, this is the period of peaceful, civil and democratic struggle. Better results and gains can be achieved this way; not with weapons and violence," and argued that armed struggle has lost its validity.

Barzani said that they fully support the process initiated in Turkey and are ready for any kind of assistance and cooperation for the process to be successful.
