Nearly 300 people injured in earthquake in Rojhilat

The earthquake that hit Kermanshah province of Rojhilat (Eastern) Kurdistan on Sunday left some 300 people injured.

Kermanshah Governor Husheng Bazvand stated that at least 287 people got injured as a result of Sunday’s 5.9 magnitude earthquake. Most of those affected have been treated and discharged from hospitals.

The Taze Abad centered earthquake caused material damage on buildings in Sarpolê Zahab and İslamabadê Garb towns and their villages. According to officials, 43 villages and 101 settlements suffered severe damages in the earthquake.

The 7.3 magnitude earthquake that hit Kermanshah province in November 2017 claimed the life of at least 620 people and left over 12 thousand people injured, while 8 other people died in Southern Kurdistan.

Before Sunday’s earthquake in Kermanshah, another earthquake of 5.7 magnitude hit the Roydar city in Hormozgan province to the south.
