In the Northern Kurdistan province of Van where a total of 12 municipalities are held by the Democratic Regions' Party (DBP), the 10th municipality has also been usurped by the government.
As the government continues to usurp the municipalities won by the DBP in 2014's local elections, a trustee has been appointed to Van's Çaldıran district municipality.
In the meantime, police forces raided Çaldıran Municipality and the house of Co-mayor Faruk Demir who was taken into custody in the operation. Police do not allow access into the municipality.
The other co-mayor, Suna Atabay remains in jail for siz months now.
