Military operations against Kurdish guerrillas in Diyarbakir

Turkish army started a military operation against the Kurdish guerrillas in Dicle, a district of Diyarbakir province.

Locals says 3 special forces unit deployed to the rural area near Yokuslu (Shingiring) village last night. The soldiers took positions near the village but there were no clash with Kurdish guerrillas.

This morning 16 military transport vehicled carried soldiers to the area and a military operation started, local sources reported.

There are deployments from Elazig to the operation zone by the Turkish army.

The Kurdistan Worker’s Party declared ceasefire against Turkey on 13 August and extended it until summer of 2011 last month.

But Turkish army is still conducting operations against Kurdish guerrillas.

More than 20 Kurdish guerrillas were killed by the Turkish army after 13 August.
