Masses marching towards Cizre district of Şırnak against the ongoing crackdown and attacks by Turkish state forces in the district have been stopped by armored vehicles once again after reaching the Kartmin village of  Mardin's Midyat district.

The group composed of HDP Co-President Selahattin Demirtaş, Ministers Ali Haydar Konca and Müslüm Doğan, deputies and a large number of civilians were stopped by armored vehicles and denied permission to move further by the military officials from Kartmin village military post. Demirtaş is having talks with the military officials for the lifting of the barricade.

ANF reporter on the ground told that the road is surrounded by rocky hills and soldiers have been deployed on the hills in the surrounding areas.

Selahattin Demirtaş, on the other hand, told the soldiers “The fallen prime minister might have decided for this, but you can take your own decisions yourself and allow the crowd to move further”, stressing that they are going to Cizre because they do not want people to die.

“Open the road and let the people pass, they will be giving peace messages there”, said Demirtaş to soldiers.
