Mardin Co-mayor Ahmet Türk: They cannot suppress us, we will resist

Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Ahmet Türk, who has been suspended and replaced by a trustee today, said they will never be intimidated by such methods.

Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Ahmet Türk has been suspended today in line with an instruction from the Ministry of Interior. Türk was later replaced by a trustee, Mardin Governor Mustafa Yaman.

The municipality building remains under the blockade of police forces since early morning hours and police have blocked the entry and exit points in the building.

Speaking to ANF about his suspension, Ahmet Türk said the AKP and Palace wanted to suppress everyone but failed to realize their goal.

Recalling that the Turkish state had resorted to a similar attack and fascism in the period of September 12 military coup and 90'ies, Türk said: "They can never suppress us for we will be standing tall as we did back then."

Türk remarked that the AKP and Palace of Erdoğan wanted to intimidate the society by means of such shocking attacks and pressures but the Kurdish people are organised enough to respond to and frustrate these attacks.

Türk said they were faced with a heavy process of repression and onslaught, stressing that they will continue the struggle and resist at any cost.
