Former PUK co-chair, Lahur Şêx Cengi said: "The KDP wants to sacrifice the people for its own interests. It does not ask about the suffering of our people half as much as it pleases the enemies of our people."
Former PUK co-chair Lahur Şêx Cengi issued a written statement regarding the visit of the Prime Minister of the Federated Kurdistan Region Mesrur Barzani to Turkey. Emphasizing that people are insignificant in the eyes of the regional government, Lahur Cengi said: "If the government asked about the suffering of our people half as much as it pleases neighbouring countries and the hearts of our people's enemies, the people would support them."
Lahur Şêx Cengi added: "We all know that Baghdad is the key to our people's recovery from these problems. However, we see that the government of our region visits neighbouring countries but they are not ready to visit Baghdad even once. They should know well that the only solution is to be found in Baghdad.”
Cengi continued: "I have withdrawn from our KDP brothers for a while because they have decided to sacrifice the people to themselves."
Call to PUK and Goran
Lahur Şêx Cengi addressed both the PUK and the Goran Movement: “You are partners in this place. You are going through a difficult period right now. After the Kurdistan oil decision by the Iraqi Federal Court and the last words of the Ministry of Petroleum, if you act like the KDP with regard to oil, I will be the first person to stand in your way. We will not accept the delivery of natural gas, which is the last breath of our people, to our enemies under the name of an independent economy."
