Kurdish politicians and intellectuals launch petition

Kurdistan intellectuals and politicians living in various countries of the world drafted a petition in order to deescalate tensions following the military deployment to the Gare region and to establish civil peace among the Kurds.

Kurdistan's intellectuals and politicians stepped into action to respond to the recent attacks and provocations of KDP forces against the Medya Defense Zones. A signature campaign has been started now under the organization of the Initiative for the National Unity of Kurdistan which operates abroad. 1300 intellectuals from four parts of Kurdistan have signed the petition so far.

An online press conference will be held tomorrow at 13:00 for the announcement of the petition. In a press release, in which Kurdish politicians and intellectuals living in Europe, Asia and America will attend online, calls will be made to deescalate the tension in Southern Kurdistan.

"CIVIL PEACE BRINGS FREEDOM"

Nearly 40 names are expected to attend the press conference. Especially those who want to watch the press conference to which the Kurdish media is invited and ask questions can contact the following e-mail address: [email protected]

In the press release call, the following views are articulated: “We are concerned with the news that military deployments have been made from Hewler to the Gare region recently. Despite the calls made by Kurdish politicians, escalation has not been eliminated, and we, as Kurds living abroad, want this problem that could harm everybody to be resolved immediately. Because this tension is no longer just a tension between the parties. We call on everyone to take a stand with the slogan "Civil war brings disaster, civil peace brings freedom."
