KON-MED: The KDP should give up the course of betrayal immediately

Denouncing the KDP’s support for the invading Turkish state, KON-MED called on the people of South Kurdistan to hold the KDP accountable.

Ali Avni, member of the Central Committee of the Barzani-dominated KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party) in South Kurdistan, openly called on the Turkish state to murder leading PKK members during a recent TV appearance on a Barzani family channel. Elî Ewnî explained that the Turkish army and MIT are capable of targeting people with drones and questioned why the PKK leadership is not being eliminated with drones.

Avni said: “I say it to the leaders of the Turkish state. You can use drones, the airway and by means of the Internet to locate the members of the PKK in the tens of thousands of cars going to Ahmedawa and bomb them. Don't you know the leaders and vanguards of the PKK who come and go to Turkey through Ranya, Derbindaxan, Qeladizê and Bradost?"

The Confederation of Kurdistan Societies in Germany (KON-MED), the largest Kurdish institution in Germany, released a statement denouncing the KDP’s alliance with the invading Turkish state in South Kurdistan and urging it to give up the course of betrayal immediately.

The KON-MED statement on Monday said: “The Kurdish Freedom Movement, which has paid any and all price for the Kurdish people for half a century, continues resisting colonialist forces. The struggle of the Kurdish Freedom Movement, the assurance of all the hard-won gains, has become public knowledge all over the world. It continues its fight, not only through an armed struggle in four parts of Kurdistan, but also to ensure the national unity of the Kurdish people and the international securing of its national rights.”

The statement continued: “While there is such a struggle on one hand, on the other hand, the KDP pursues dirty relations with the Turkish state against the interests of the Kurdish people. Despite repeated appeals from the representatives of the freedom movement to end their treacherous relations, the KDP has ignored these appeals. At a time when the national unity of the Kurdish people and the common struggle for their national rights are of the utmost importance, neither history nor the Kurdish people will forgive the KDP for their collaboration. The only apt description of their collaboration with the enemy at such a critical stage is betrayal."

“The KDP shows no interest in Kurdistan and the freedom of the Kurdish people. It has tied its fate and identity to the Turkish state and is pursuing a hostile policy. The KDP, which has done nothing but increase the wealth of its clan, does not shrink from betraying the Kurdish people and all its values," the statement said.

KON-MED underlined that so far it has only been the patient attitude of the freedom movement that has prevented a conflict with the KDP. However, the KDP will one day be held accountable for its actions, as it has placed itself in complicity with the Turkish extermination plan.

The statement concluded: "As KON-MED, we appeal to the Kurdish public. We cannot ignore this policy of the KDP and must condemn it both historically and socially. The KDP should give up this course of betrayal immediately. The people of South Kurdistan must hold the KDP accountable for this policy."
