KNK wishes the people of Kurdistan and the Islamic world a happy Eid al-Fitr

The KNK wished the people of Kurdistan and the entire Islamic world a happy Eid al-Fitr and said, “We believe that our people will soon celebrate Eid al-Fitr in peace, freedom and tranquility in their own land.”

The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Executive Council released a statement on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, saying the following:

“We wish a happy Eid al-Fitr to all the people of Kurdistan and the Islamic world, especially the prisoners and freedom fighters, and we wish Eid al-Fitr to be an occasion for peace and tranquility in our country and in the world.

We are in the week of Newroz, at the beginning of spring, and we celebrated Newroz with great enthusiasm all over Kurdistan and abroad. Especially in Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan) and Bakur (Northern Kurdistan) Newroz was celebrated in the spirit of rebellion. We welcome Eid al-Fitr with the enthusiasm of Newroz.

In Northern Kurdistan, there is a dialog process between the Turkish state and the Freedom Movement. However, no concrete steps have been taken so far, apart from just statements. On the other hand, in Rojava Kurdistan, a protocol has been signed between the Autonomous Administration and the Damascus administration. We hope that the dialog process in both Bakur and Rojava will reach a positive outcome and that the problems in these two regions will be resolved peacefully.

However, in our country there is still a state of chaos. All over Kurdistan, the invaders' pressures, threats and attacks on our people continue. In Rojhilat, the regime's oppression continues, and social problems deepen day by day. In Bashûr (Southern Kurdistan), economic and social problems continue, the problems in the disputed territories are still unresolved and the attacks by the Turkish state have increased. All forces in Kurdistan need to unite and mobilize against these threats and attacks.

On the occasion of this holiday, we once again appeal to all Kurds and the people of Kurdistan: raise your voice against occupation and attacks, do not remain unresponsive and strengthen your unity.

Despite all these difficulties, we believe that our people will soon celebrate their holidays and joys in peace, freedom and tranquility in their own land. On this occasion, we once again congratulate all prisoners and freedom fighters, the people of Kurdistan and the entire Islamic world on Eid al-Fitr.”
