According to local sources, troops of the KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party) have ambushed and attacked guerrilla fighters of the HPG (People's Defence Forces) near the town of Amadiya in the Duhok governorate. Some guerrillas are said to have been injured in the attack.
According to RojNews, based in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, the attack was carried out by a Zêrevanî unit. The Zêrevanî troops are a private army of the Barzani clan and are not part of the regular Peshmerga. One of the tasks of the Zêrevanî is to provide security for the Turkish army. Some of the Zêrevanî troops have been specially trained to fight against the guerrillas. A few days ago, a written order from the Zêrevanî commander, Aziz Veysi, became known, in which the elimination of guerrilla fighters is ordered.
