Journalist Rizgar Deniz remembered at his grave in Maxmur

At his grave in the Maxmur refugee camp, relatives and colleagues commemorated journalist Rizgar Deniz, who died three years ago. The ANHA correspondent was fatally injured in an ISIS attack in eastern Syria.

Journalist Rizgar Deniz (Rizgar Adanmış), who died three years ago, was remembered in Maxmur. The ANHA correspondent was injured in an ISIS attack in Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria and died on December 18, 2017. A large number of people gathered at his grave in the Maxmur refugee camp on Friday to remember the young journalist.

After a minute of silence at the cemetery in Maxmur, Weysi Talli gave a short speech on behalf of the free Kurdish media and commemorated all the journalists who died in the course of their work. Rizgar Deniz's mother, Meryem Adanmış, said at her son's grave that she was proud of him; "The Turkish occupying state should know this: It can arrest us and it can kill us, but it cannot turn us away from Rêber Apo's [Abdullah Öcalan's] thoughts and the legacy of our martyrs. As a mother of a martyr, I declare that I will continue the struggle of my son and our people as long as I live."

The commemoration was concluded with the slogans "Şehîd namirin" (Martyrs are immortal) and "Bijî Serok Apo" (Long live leader Öcalan).
