Iran kills 4 kolbars, executes 34 Kurdish prisoners in one month

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network announced that 4 kolbars were killed, 34 Kurdish prisoners were executed and 45 activists were detained by the Iranian state in the last month.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network, which works in Rojhilat (Eastern) Kurdistan, published a report on human rights violations against Kurds in Iran between 21 December 2023 and 21 January 2024.

The report said that 4 kolbars were killed and 41 others were injured, while 1 kolbar was seriously injured by falling off a cliff as a result of the Iranian forces opening fire in the last 30 days. It was recorded that at the Biyare border, located on the South Kurdistan border, 9 kolbars, 4 of them minors, were released after being tortured by Iranian state forces. The minors had their head forcibly shaved.

The association said that 34 Kurdish prisoners were executed. In addition, the report said that at least 11 Kurds arrested for religious and political reasons were at risk of execution.

According to the report, 45 activists were taken into custody. In January, a woman activist named Ruiya Heşmeti was sentenced to 74 lashes for refusing mandatory headscarf rules.
