People’s Defense Center (HSM) Headquarters issued a written statement on the attack targeting the oil pipeline. In its statement, HSM refuted the claims linking the Kurdish movement with the attack on the Kirkuk-Yumurtalık oil pipeline in Riha’s Siverek district. HSM recalled that a similar attack on the pipeline was carried out in Şırnak’s Hezex district on February 27, and stated that they carried out an extensive investigation into the attacks. According to the results of this investigation, none of the affiliates of the Kurdish movement were involved in the attacks.
HSM announced that the two attacks aimed to create tensions between different Kurdish groups in a time when the Kurdish movement was gaining momentum, and the Turkish Intelligence Agency and its affiliate groups were responsible for the attacks.
In its statement, HSM emphasized the need for getting the consent of North Kurdistan’s residents for the construction of oil and gas pipelines in North Kurdistan, where fascist AKP forces carry out brutal massacres. Lastly, HSM noted that all oil and gas pipeline constructions that lack such an approval were aiming to target people’s liberation movement, and invited the South Kurdistan administration and other Kurdish political powers to reconsider their relations with the Turkish state.
