HSM: Turkish army deliberately increasing military activity

People's Defense Central Headquarters Command (HSM) said in a written statement Thursday that the Turkish army deliberately increased its military activities recently.

People's Defense Central Headquarters Command (HSM) said in a written statement Thursday that the Turkish army deliberately increased its military activities recently.

HSM drew attention to the fact that the resolution process the Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan wanted to advance was of great value and a resolution strategy promising a free a democratic future to the peoples of Turkey.

Pointing to the attacks and operations of the Turkish army in recent days, HSM remarked that HPG (People's Defense Forces) met the requirements of the rules of the ceasefire while the AKP state and the Turkish army however treated this process on the basis of various games and tactics rather than responding it in the same way.

HSM recalled their former statements in which they had warned that they would have the right to respond fire if the Turkish army continued its actions violating the ceasefire, citing the most recent examples of the artillery and tank attacks launched from military bases and posts on the border, mainly from those in Gever district of Hakkari.

HSM stated that soldiers at Oramar (Dağlıca) Regimental Command carried out an intense bombardment with tanks, artillery and heavy weapons, targeting the guerrilla bases in Martyr Rahime, Martyr Gafur, Martyr Bager and Martyr Erdal hills between 11.00-16.00 yesterday. HSM added that the attacks were concurrently supported by an intense activity of reconnaissance flights and warplanes.

According to the statement, guerrilla forces responded to these attacks with heavy weapons, targeting the Regimental Command at 1-3 pm yesterday. The guerrilla suffered no losses in the clash while no information was obtained regarding the casualties of the Turkish army, HSM added.

"The intense bombardment of the Turkish military forces with tanks, artillery and antiaircraft weapons, which came despite there being no activity by the guerrilla, explicitly manifests that the Turkish army is pursuing a deliberate activity. The fact that the Turkish side continued opening fire after our forces stopped responding, also makes it clear that they want to create a problem and a conflict environment", HSM said, adding that the operation the Turkish army carried out in the on the outskirts of Mardin's Mazıdağı district on 23 March also aimed to lead to a clash and inflict losses on the guerrilla.

HSM also pointed out that yesterday's statement of the Turkish General Staff about the Oramar clash was nothing but a lie and disrespect against the Turkey's peoples and public opinion, adding; "It is obvious that the AKP state is leading up to controlled clashes within the ongoing resolution process as part of its electoral tactics, intending to get the votes of Kurdish and democratic circles by claiming to keep the process going, and the votes of the nationalist circles by saying that "we are engaged in war and conflict".

HSM added that guerrilla forces will approach these dirty policies carefully, just like they did in Mardin, recalling that they had the right to respond and retaliate in order to defend themselves against the attacks.
